First Baptist Church, through the leadership of our Mission Council, provides many opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in our community, state, nation, and around the world. Below are some of our many mission experiences.
Our Baptist on Mission are active both locally and nationally when disaster strikes. Our disaster recovery trailer is one tool that we utilize on a regular basis to help meet the needs of those in crisis and to share the love of Christ in a hands-on way. Whether it is a neighbor who needs a fallen tree cut up and removed, or a national tragedy such as the flooding experienced due to hurricanes, our Baptist on Mission are ready and active, cooperating with other churches throughout the state and beyond to do Kingdom work.
The Handyman Ministry has taken as their mission to use their time and talents to help others in our community with various jobs around the house. Their ministry includes repairing homes, building ramps, painting, power washing, moving debris and cleaning yards at no cost to the recipients.
Operation Inasmuch is a movement of churches across America who are impacting their communities by serving those in need. It is based on Matthew 25:40 where Jesus said "...Truly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me." First Baptist will have opportunities throughout the year for our congregation to share the love of Christ through hands on mission projects. Possible service opportunities will consist of preparing Care Bags to be delivered to Nursing Homes, collecting can goods for our Food Pantries, helping residents at Ekklesia, showing appreciation to our local school teachers and first responders, painting and pressure washing houses, yard work, cooking and serving hot dogs to the community and more.
Habitat for Humanity
We provide lunches on the fourth Tuesday of each month for volunteers who are working on homes being built by Habitat for Humanity. On occasions we will have a team who will help with the construction of a home.
Operation Christmas Child
We partner each year with Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child by providing shoe boxes filled with love for hurting boys and girls throughout the world. Click here to build a shoebox online!
