Senior Adult Ministries

The J.O.Y Ministries seeks to glorify God as we minister to the senior adults of First Baptist Church and those in the Morehead City area.  Our senior adults are an essential part of many ministries within our church.  It is our goal to provide ministries for our senior adults to grow spiritually, to enjoy fellowship with one another, to serve others, and to gain more knowledge on topics of interest.  Come and join us on this mission.

"Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come."  Pslams 71:18 (NIV)

Fall 2024 Events

Technology for Seniors - Thursday, September 12 @ 10:30am
Do you want to learn more about all the technology that is available today?  Here is your chance.  Craig Matta, brother of our very own Ann Wall Williams will share with us some helpful information that will help you navigate the rapid changing technology world.  Craig will cover things such as:

  • Basic use of a smartphone and smart TV
  • How to access programs on YouTube
  • How to be safe on the internet
  • Helpful apps for seniors
  • How to access medical records online

Craig grew up in eastern NC and is an ECU graduate (go Pirates).  Computers have played a major role in most of his work life and after retirement he realized that many people, especially seniors, were lost in the rapidly changing technology world. So, as way to give back to his community, he began Geri Tech Services, giving needed help to those who needed help with a technology issue.

Please click here and download the Technology Survey so Craig will know what you would like to see addressed in regards to technology.  Click here to sign up before Wednesday, September 11 so we will know how many folks to expect.  Snacks will be provided.
